Hot Glue and Doilies – my new BFFs

It’s no secret.  I’m a girly girl.  Bring out the pink, the ruffly, the doilies, the garland, I’m a sucker.  I saw Rhonna’s paper lolly tutorial back in December and finally got an afternoon to try them out.  While the little girls napped, Olivia and I tag-teamed the lolly craft.  I made the large lollies from 12×12″ scrapbook paper (3 sheets each) and each smaller lolly by cutting one sheet of 12×12 paper in half and then halves again to get 3- 6×6″ squares (plus an extra).  Score each sheet and then pass off to your kiddo to fold accordian style.  I was actually surprised that Olivia caught on so easily and she folded away while I finished up the scoring.  Fold each accordian in half and hot glue together to create your circular base.  Glue to dowels and add whatever your little heart desires to dress it up.  I just love the doilies, don’t you?  And,  I added a gorgeous silk ruffle flower to the center of one of the big lollies – it was another thing I made at Spark and it’s been lying around waiting to be used.  I don’t know how my husband feels about Olivia and I dressing up the kitchen table with some very girly Valentine’s sweets, but I sure like them!
